Overview
An opportunity to combine a New Zealand dairy farm experience with an amazing overseas holiday! We farm 500 cows near Oamaru, South Island, on a traditional New Zealand grass based system. We have a small team of great staff, and are very proud of our farm and livestock. The accommodation is a fully furnished 3 bedroom cottage which is shared with up to two other staff. The farm has a rolling contour, and is fully irrigated. You will have an opportunity to learn all aspects of day to day farming, and will work closely with the (Irish!) farm manager. The farm is 20 minutes from Oamaru (and the nearest shops), 2 hours from Dunedin, 2 hours from Aoraki Mt Cook, and 3 hours from Queenstown and Wanaka – so there are plenty of options for your days off. The beautiful Waitaki Lakes are within an easy 40 minute drive, and there are plenty of outdoor activities nearby including the Alps to Ocean bike trail.
The vacancy is open from now, and we hope the successful candidate will stay with us for a minimum of 6 months; ideally a full year or longer. Applicants need to have basic farming experience, good work ethic, the desire to learn and get the most out of the experience, and a great sense of humour. You also need a full clean drivers licence and VISA allowing you to legally work in NZ.
